many sectors, including:
- Aircraft maintenance (civil and military) – Owen Stewart is a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, able to certify maintenance on a wide variety of aircraft (general aviation and airline types), and has operated in high pressure environments where significant accountability for performance is demanded.
- Aircraft accident and incident investigation for the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand (CAANZ). This required establishment of a root cause(s) and analysis and development of corrective action plans, including preventive actions and recommendations.The investigation work included in-depth research, which by virtue of the diverse causes established, engineered a contact network able to provide specialist expertise and advice that exists today. Effective communication skills (importantly listening) and the ability to provide convincing recommendations for change, were key elements to this role.
- Quality assurance, compliance and risk management roles in international airport operations, airline operations and aircraft maintenance operations. Research, communicating and influencing skills are used to good effect to modify operating culture and processes and practices, improving performance and honing safe delivery of services by operators, while taking account of and balancing financial considerations.
